Learning to Paint: Copying Bob Ross#7
April 2019.
I recommend setting aside 4 hours to complete a Bob Ross copy. This includes set up time, applying liquid white to the canvas, copying Bob’s painting while pausing the video at each step, cleaning all the brushes, and finally putting stuff away and cleaning your painting area.
I was surprised by how long the whole process takes especially because he makes it look so easy in his 27 minute t.v. show.
This time factor is the main reason why I switched to acrylic painting. With acrylics, you need less space and it is easy to paint a little bit and walk away (cleaning your brushes with only water instead of solvent, soap, and water). You also don’t have to get the entire painting done in one sitting as you do with the Bob Ross wet on wet technique.
